Today’s review is of one of my FAVORITE new products! It’s an absolutely indispensable piece of training equipment. It’s a treat bag! I have been using fanny packs for years, but now that I have a proper training bag, I’m never going back! If you’re not into clicker training or positive reinforcement, you still might be interested in this review! Even before I started getting into positive reinforcement and clicker training, I liked to have a fanny pack on me for long horse days at the barn. I like to have somewhere to put my phone, snacks for me and my horse, lip balm and whatever else I might need. If you’re in jeans or riding pants, you might be lucky enough to uncomfortably squeeze your phone in and maybe a tube of lip balm, but not much else! Treat yourself to a decent training bag, and you can work and ride in it. They’re super affordable, so it’s a no-brainer!

What Makes The PET N PET The Best treat Bag for Horse Training

First of all, the PET N PET treat bag has a large capacity. It can hold a lot of treats, and I mean a LOT. You’re not going to run out and have to go do a refill in the middle of a clicker training session! Another feature I like is that it has a drawstring closure that opens up very wide. My biggest complaint with a fanny pack is zipping and unzipping. This is a huge pain, and if your fanny pack is kind of small or it’s too full, reaching in past that zipper can tear up your hands. This was really hard on me during the winter when my skin was already dry. My hands would be SHREDDED after clicker training sessions with the fanny pack.

Not only does the drawstring closure make for easy treat grabbing, it’s also perfect if you plan to ride in this bag. In one quick motion, you can pull the drawstring closed, and then you don’t have to worry about any of your treats or other items flying out of the top of the bag. I do a lot of trotting, and while I like the ease of use on the larger clicker training bags without tops, that would never work for me in a riding situation!

It Holds More Than Just  Treats

In addition to being designed really well for clicker training horses, it’s also a very functional “fanny pack” style bag for you! There is a pouch on the side that is designed to hold poop bags (for dogs), that is the perfect size for my iPhone! Also, there is a front pouch that I put my clicker in, and an additional small zippered pocket for lip balm or anything else you might want to stow away for a day at the barn!

Comfortable on the ground and in the saddle.

Lightweight and Comfortable Treat Bag for Positive Reinforcement Horse Training

Above all, this bag is lightweight and comfortable. When I’m at the barn, I’m typically wearing this for a few hours on end. Unlike my old fanny pack, that I would have to rotate around to ride comfortably in, this is perfectly comfortable and well adjusted just the way it is, all day long. I like the treat bag portion to hang on my right side, where I can easily reach in and grab a treat when I need to. The bag comes with various straps and clips. You can wear it like a belt, the way I do, or you can wear it like a purse. It also has a clip on the back, so you can remove the straps on it and clip it to your own belt too.

Easy to Clean

The liner in this treat bag is so much easier to clean than my old canvas fanny pack. It’s kind of like the material tents are made out of. I accidentally left a few old carrot pieces in it for a few days, and it got pretty gross. After making the discovery, I pulled myself together and grabbed the gross carrots to toss into the trash. I then pulled the liner out and washed it out in the sink. I set it in the sun, and it was dry in no time!

Another shot of the treat bag in action!

Affordable Training Pouch for Clicker Training Horses

Finally, this is a SUPER affordable treat bag for clicker training. If you’ve spent any money at all on magic sticks and “training” halters, you know JUST how expensive horsemanship products can be. Barrier to entry is CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP for clicker training and positive reinforcement training! In most cases, you’re out the door for less than $20! …That must be why it’s not very popular yet… Big-name trainers haven’t figured out how to monetize it like they have in the Natural Horsemanship world!

Overall, this is a great product. It’s definitely one of the best-value products I have found, and I use it CONSTANTLY. If you’re looking for a new treat bag or simply a better “fanny pack” style bag to go trail riding in, check this one out!

Until next time, Happy Trails!
