What’s up guys!?

I just uploaded a video of my recent tack haul! All of these items are from either Amazon or horse.com. I will include links to most of them, if you want to check them out for yourself! I picked up a couple of supplements for my senior horse Bamboozal, a few tack/grooming items and a few clicker training/positive reinforcement training supplies that I am VERY excited about!

Supplements For My Senior Morgan Horse

First of all, I ordered two bags of Majesty’s Flex Wafers. This is an arthritis supplement in cookie form. I bought this these for my senior horse. Bamboozal is about 24 years old (I think…) and he has a little bit of arthritis. It’s nothing too severe and he isn’t on anything for it. He has some occasional stiffness and he will go lame or “off” if he’s ridden or worked in deep sand or steep hills (so we don’t do that.) He gets trail ridden a few times a week, at mostly a walk and trot.

Bamboozal

I’m really excited about the Majesty’s Flex Wafers, because Bamboozal is SUPER picky. I actually have 3-4 SEMI expensive supplements in my cabinet that he WON’T eat! If you put a supplement on his grain, he will go on strike and refuse to eat any of it, especially MSM! I’ve already taken the cookies out to the barn, and he approves. They must not taste medicinal at all, because he REALLY likes them. I will report back after a month or two and let you know if I notice any difference in his comfort on this supplement.

Also in this tack haul, I bought a new tub of brewers yeast. This is part of my protocol to address Bamboozal’s occasional diarrhea problem. If you have a horse with occasionally runny stools, you should give this cheap supplement a try! I got a tip from my farrier to mix it with beer, and it has done the trick to help normalize Bamboozal’s poop over the past few months. I started giving him a half a beer and a tablespoon of brewers yeast in his soaked hay cube mash a few times a week in January, and he hasn’t had an episode of gross runny poop since! No more gross butt and hind legs, and all of the poop piles in the pasture are looking healthy!

Grooming Supplies in This Tack Haul

I also got a bunch of grooming supplies in this tack haul. I got two grooming tote caddy’s by Tough 1. I’ve always used one of those traditional hard plastic tack boxes, but I recently got one of those tack carts on wheels, and space is limited on it. It’s basically like a saddle rack on a dolly that you can wheel around. It has a place to hang bridles and put your brushes, but the plastic tack box just takes up too much room, and then I still have to share it with my husband… So, I ordered each of us one of these tack caddy totes.

I also got a few sweat scrapers, a jelly scrubby curry to replace my old one and a new hoof pick, because I seem to lose those really easily. Stay tuned for upcoming blogs and videos for reviews of most of these tack haul items and a tour of my new tack cart on wheels!

Positive Reinforcement / Clicker Training Supplies

Finally, this tack haul includes a few supplies for positive reinforcement training and clicker training. I got a bag of clickers off of Amazon, because they are just small enough for me to lose. I wanted to make sure I always had a clicker SOMEWHERE when I needed it. They came with little wrist lanyards, so you can wear them or clip them to your tack tote or treat bag.

I also got this REALLY nice treat bag from Amazon, and it was only like 13 bucks! I’ve been using  fanny pack, but opening up the zipper and reaching in can really tear up your hand. During clicker training, you might have to go in and out of the bag 20, 30, 40 times or MORE per session. You definitely want a treat bag that is easy on the hands. This one is actually for dog training, so it also has a few additional compartments, and came with three rolls of poop bags! This is probably the item I’m most excited about in this tack haul, so stay tuned for the full review of it!

Until next time, Happy Trails!
